It's not just what we know... it's how much we care!

House Calls

puppy carOur veterinarians are more than happy to make house calls or ‘home visits’ at your request. If you live in Wingham, Marlee, Taree, Tinonee, Old Bar or surrounding areas we can come out to your house and attend to your pet.

Some owners prefer to have a house call rather than bring their dog or cat into the clinic for several reasons:

  1. Older pets
Some older dogs can be overweight and have reduced mobility due to sore arthritic joints, making it very hard for them to get in and out of the car. If the dog is very large, it can difficult for owners to lift them into the car and so in these circumstances, it can be better for your pet to have a vet visit your house for their examination.
  2. Stressed pets
Many pets (cats in particular), don’t like travelling in the car or in their cat carrier and can become extremely stressed before they arrive at the vet clinic. Sometimes these pets are much easier to thoroughly examine in their home environment.
  3. Mobility issues
We understand that not everyone has a car or the ability to bring their pet into the clinic – this should not be an impediment to getting high-quality veterinary care and we are more than happy to assist you and have a vet come out to your home.
  4. Home Euthanasia

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet can be very distressing and we are mindful of helping to make this already difficult task as gentle as possible. Many owners prefer to have this done at home, where their pet can feel as safe and loved as possible. Our aim is for your pet to be as calm and peaceful as possible and we welcome any questions or special requests you may have at this difficult time.

what procedures can be performed on a house call?

  • Vaccinations
  • General consultations
  • Heartworm injections
  • Nail clips & anal sac expression
  • Lump checks
  • Skin, ear & eye problems
  • Blood tests
  • Arthritis injections
  • Palliative care
  • Home Euthanasia

As you can see, there are lots of services we can offer on a home visit. If we need to perform further testing we can take samples back to the clinic and then call you with the results. In some circumstances your pet may require hospitalisation at the clinic and dependent on the size of your pet, we may be able to assist with bringing them back to the clinic for this after their house-call consultation. If your pet is extremely unwell and is likely to require emergency treatment, we will generally recommend they be brought in to the clinic where we have access to life-saving equipment. If this is not possible we will endeavour to assist you in getting your pet the treatment they need.
